Too often we are encouraged to set goals to reach our potential in stereotypical and futile ways. How many times have you been told to “Write your goals down!”, only to find them on a scrunched up list in the back of your drawer years later, forgotten.
But how many of us have been encouraged to actively adjust our daily habits, and to set healthy ones that will lead to achievement?
Even then, how many of us would commit to and make that change if we were handed it as a fool-proof answer? It takes an inspired and committed individual to practice the kind of habit-setting that motivates goal-achievement. Let’s face it, if breaking the behavioural habits that restrict you from achieving your goals were a simple task, there would be a lot more very successful, and very lazy, people in the world.

In essence, it comes down to what your goals actually mean to you, and how important you consider your ideas and potential input to be for the world. Changing personal habits can be extremely difficult, and even more so if you have no real motivation behind this decision, or if there is no immediate reward to experience. Even with an extreme desire to achieve something, it is very easy to lose motivation and fall back into your habitual routine, choosing to “save" that goal for a later, 'more convenient' time.
(Psst, here's a secret we've learnt: there will never be a 'more convenient' time)
This is why for those more important goals that absolutely can’t wait, we need to take a more than just “writing them down” and expecting results.

In January of this year (2022), the ladies of Finpas took part in a goal-setting course produced by myself as Finpas’ strategic planner. This course helped the ladies to identify the important areas of their life, to discover which of these areas their goals most applied to, and to contemplate and discuss why this might be, and what this means about themselves. After the consideration of the importance of your goals in context, you can easily pinpoint which goals are truly most important to you and recognise a pattern of priority in different areas. Over the course of a few weeks, through discussions, completing activities & goal-setting strategies, each of the ladies were able to develop their own individual goal plans for their most meaningful goals.
This course is not only about setting and pursuing goals, but also about discovering who you are and what is important to you through your priorities and objectives. Because each individual is unique, no two courses will look the same or take the same approach - it will be specific to you. It is important to have someone to guide you as you go through this process, and more importantly, to hold you accountable when you are slacking off or reverting to habitual patterns.

Do you often find yourself resorting back to your learned daily routine when trying to pursue your goals? This is not an issue that you face alone, and is in fact a very human quality. That is why we have decided to offer our goal-setting course to our clients, with a special focus being placed on the individual position of the person taking part, your characteristics and the structure of your daily routine. We will work together to mould the programme into a unique one that works specifically for you, on your time frame, and that recognises the differences between (and separates) your life goals and your daily habits. Together, we will actively prioritise and structure your goals (based on your objectives), setting target dates and deadlines, and setting new habits to add to your daily routine that will get you to reaching your goal more quickly and efficiently.
This strategy is also extremely beneficial when it comes to budgeting and saving for your future. If you have been wanting to take control of your financial goals, but haven't known where to start, we highly recommend starting with this goal-setting approach. Being certain of your visions for the future, and of what you want for yourself is the first step towards making these visions a reality. Once you have this picture for yourself, we can actively work on a plan that will secure your reaching it. You will have a constant stream of guidance and support from both myself as I navigate your goal course with you, and our financial advisors, who will provide you with the best investment options to choose from based on your lifestyle, personality, goals and future plans.
